The concept is simple, it is against the clock and Team DK Challenge 24 aim to have travelled more miles than anyone else has done before in a continuous period of 24 hours in a kite powered buggy.

We are living the dream...

concept buggy design: Andy Collis 2006

DK Challenge 24 is a team that has registered to take part in the BridgingFinanceLimited Hoylake 24 hosted by Wirral Sand Yacht Club. The event is a 24 hour kite buggy challenge which will take place on the weekend of 23rd and 24th June 2007.

The team was borne out of reading an article on the kite crossing of the Gobi desert by Kieran Bradley & the VEKA Network Challenge by kite buggy and "Toughing it out" by David Hempleman-Adams, a book on polar travel. Exploration is something mankind does naturally whether as a child or as an adult; we have been genetically designed to explore ourselves and our surroundings. The earth and the universe in which it sits becomes smaller as each day passes and the possibilities for new geographical exploration diminishes also.

Pitting ourselves against our surroundings has become the next goal whether climbing the highest mountain, sailing the oceans, flying the furthest or being the fastest on land, sea or in the air. The concept is highly eco-friendly relying on wind power alone and is also low impact, once the tide comes in our tracks will have vanished.

The team have decided to link their personal challenge to a charity. Charities and the people they work with face greater challenges than DK Challenge 24 will ever face and the team wishes to highlight the needs of a particular charity. The team is delighted to announce that their chosen charity for the event is Claire House Children's Hospice based on the Wirral.

The participation in the race would not be possible without the help given by our sponsors to whom we are grateful.
